Running Commentary

Running Commentary is a series of recorded conversations with people who were involved in the early years of the Finger Lakes Runners Club and the growth of running in Ithaca. Each conversation captures personal stories, memories, and perspectives from those who helped shape the club’s culture, races, and community, offering a firsthand look at how FLRC developed over time. These are the stories we’d tell—and perhaps embellish—for a newcomer on a weekend long run.

You can listen to the conversations in any order. Taken together, they move roughly forward in time, though each conversation freely jumps around from the club’s founding in 1968 to the present day. For each conversation, we provide an audio version with a synchronized transcript, plus a standalone transcript. We’re working on making these recordings available as a podcast.
