About FLRC

The Finger Lakes Runners Club has over 800 members and organizes a variety of road and trail races, track meets, informal group runs, and inclusive running-related challenges for runners throughout the Finger Lakes region of New York State. We also donate significant funds to programs associated with youth running, trail maintenance, and other topics related to our mission.

Our marquee races are the Skunk Cabbage 10K and Half Marathon, the Finger Lakes 50s ultramarathon, and the Hartshorne Memorial Masters Mile.

Mission

FLRC is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization focused on promoting physical fitness and health through running. Based in Ithaca, New York, and drawing members from all over the Finger Lakes region, the club is dedicated to the love of running, as a sport and as a way of life—for fun, for fitness, for camaraderie, and for every person regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion, or any other demographic.

History

FLRC was founded in 1968 by Jim Hartshorne, Bob Congdon, Chuck Collins, George Gavras, Sharon Petrillose, and Vern Rockcastle.
