The 4th Annual Good Samaritan 5K Run/Walk is gearing up to deliver an exciting event again this spring in the CNY community on Saturday, April 22nd at Long Branch Park in Liverpool. This year’s family-oriented event starts off at 9:30 a.m. with a fun event for the children ages 5-12 known as our Kids’ Sprint featuring a quick loop around the Vendor Village and through the Finish Chute. Participating children receive a medal and a cotton t-shirt.  Cost $10.00 per child.

We are excited to announce that in addition to the normal 5K run/walk, we will be offering a brand new 10K run for individuals who are seeking a more challenging distance run. Both the 5K run/walk and the 10K run will commence at 10:00 a.m. The 10K runners will lead the event with an out and back course on the West Shore Trail at Onondaga Lake Park from Long Branch.  The scenic course is fast and flat, perfect for achieving those goals for pace. Age group awards for each division.  Cost is $30.00 per participant.

After the 10K race begins, 5K runners and walkers will begin on the East Shore Trail on a flat, 5K (3.1) USATF certified course # NY14137JG. Race registration is $25.00/per person for the 5K. (Children 12 and under are free.)

Water and refreshments, Inspirational music, vendors, entertainment, and concessions will be on site from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Immediately following the race, there’ll be an award ceremony with prizes for the top three finishers in each age group for the 5K, and top 2 for 10K. All participants receive a swag bag of goodies. Packet pickup will be in the Community Room at Fleet Feet Sports, 5800 Bridge Street in Dewitt on Friday, April 21st from 11a.m. to 6 p.m.

Proceeds benefit Christian Health Service of Syracuse (CHSOS), a local not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization located at 3200 Burnet Ave.  CHSOS endeavors to provide primary healthcare for people in our community that have little or no insurance. The Good Samaritan Run is a great way to get involved in directly helping people in our community, get the healthcare they need. Proceeds from the past 3 annual events have raised approximately $50,000 which has provided funding for a generator, additional staff, and about 500 affordable healthcare appointments per year at CHSOS for patients who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it.

Your support is both very much needed and greatly appreciated! Sign up for the 5K or the 10K can be done at www.goodsamaritanrun.org .
