2003 Virgil Mountain Madness Trail Run

Tom Meyer won the 30K race for the 2-nd straight year, with Becky Harmon first woman and a surprising 3-rd overall. In this race Boris Dzikovski and 4 others either did not believe or did not see a large red arrow pointing straight ahead at "Rock Pile Junction", and instead took a right turn, which took them to the finish prematurely. These 5 runners retraced their steps and ran an extra 4 miles, so got more a value in miles/$ paid, an important accomplishment for any runner.

Adam Engst took the men's 12K race, with Amy Rhodes the first woman. Adam said he was slowed down by a creek crossing "where the water was waist deep".
